Three old walnut trees in the middle of the yard. In summer, meals happen in their shade; in autumn, the fallen walnuts are yours.
The yard, the oven, the fire

Under the walnuts there's a 3.2-metre table with benches for twelve. Further back, in the orchard, a smaller table sits between the plum and apple trees, for whoever wants some quiet.

A brick oven next to the summer kitchen. It takes about two hours to heat; it fits bread, a pie or a big tray of potatoes. The peel and the trays are there.

A 20-litre cauldron on a tripod, for stew or goulash, and a fire pit with wooden benches around it. Wood for the first evening is on the house.

The whole house · 4 bedrooms, up to 10 guests
The beds: the street-side room has a 160×200 double, the garden-side room a 140×200 double, the small room a double and a single, and the back room three singles — ten places, no sofa beds. The old bathroom in the house has a shower; the second one, also with a shower and a separate WC, we built in 2019 next to the summer kitchen. The kitchen in the house has a four-ring cooker, an electric oven, a big fridge and a dishwasher; there are pots and plates for ten. The price is 1,100 lei a night for the whole house, up to 8 people; the 9th and 10th guest pay 80 lei a night each. Minimum 2 nights, 3 at Easter, 1 May, Christmas and New Year. Cleaning, bed linen, towels and wood for one evening's fire are included. Check-in between 15:00 and 20:00, check-out by 11:00. Dogs are welcome in the yard, free of charge, but not in the bedrooms. Why book direct?
Tell us how many you are and which dates you want. The reply comes from the host who hands you the keys, usually within a few hours.
The oven needs two hours to heat up. Tell us beforehand that you want to bake and we light it for you, with the wood cut and stacked next to it.
If nobody arrives after you that day, you can leave at 14:00 instead of 11:00. Ask us when you book.

It's a village house, with all that comes with it
There's no air conditioning. The walls are 60 centimetres thick and in July it's cooler inside than out, but on the hottest days the street-side windows stay shut until evening. Wi-Fi works throughout the house; the phone signal is weak in the back room. The neighbours are close: after 23:00 the music stops, and parties aren't allowed. The neighbour's rooster starts at around five. The last 400 metres to the gate are gravel; you drive slowly, but any car makes it.

“The village is 12 kilometres from Beiuș, below the hills that run towards Codru-Moma. Bears' Cave at Chișcău is 20 minutes by car, Meziad Cave about 45. There's a listed wooden church in the village, with a carved door several hundred years old — if you want to see it from the inside, we'll tell you who to call. Oradea is an hour and a half away.”
